課程概述

Internship in English, following Teaching Methods & Materials in English and Practicum in English, marks the final part of your pre-service training in the teacher education program. In this one-semester course, you will be primarily based in a secondary school to gain real-life experience in teaching, advising, and administrative work. The course provides an excellent opportunity for student teachers to learn from a number of front-line educators and to reflect on the various relationships between theory and practice (e.g., through conducting systematic observations, note-taking, engaging in professional conversations, performing multiple roles directly or indirectly related to teaching). For more details about the course, please check the guidelines, requirements, and updates shared by the Center for Teacher Education.

指定閱讀
There are no required readings for this course. However, you are strongly recommended to regularly revisit what you have learned in the teacher education program. Here are some guiding questions to help you reflect:

From theory to practice
* What theories, principles, frameworks, and approaches do you "see" in schools and in classrooms? How are they adopted and adapted?
* What do these theories, principles, frameworks, and approaches tell us about education? What are their affordances and constraints? How would you extend them or change them to fit the context you're working in?

From practice to theory
* How do you make sense of what you see and experience in the everyday lives of teaching?
* What is your educational philosophy? How would you articulate them in a way that demonstrates your expertise? How would you express them to other educators (as well as non-experts)?
